Only a few weeks in and 2020 is already shaping up to be a great year for our team, partners, and customers. Between our exploration into an Augmented Reality (AR) training program, reflecting on 40 years in business, and our facility’s recent LEED Gold certification approval, there’s cause for celebration all year long!
The Road to LEED® Gold Certification
For those who don’t know, the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) green building program recognizes best-in-class building strategies through a green rating system that analyzes every phase of a facility’s lifecycle.
Late last year, Midlab’s facility achieved LEED Gold certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions in areas including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
The journey was a long one. Today, our team works hard to ensure our commitment to sustainable business practices and innovation is continually reflected in everything that we do. Our company-wide Everything Clean philosophy encompasses our commitment to both and ensures we remain focused on the future of clean in 2020 and beyond.
What LEED Means for You
From our plant recycling program to environmentally-responsible products and solutions like FlexMax Packaging, Facility+, and Nattura, we’re always looking for new ways to care for our community and planet.
According to LEED research, “green buildings allow us to live and work more sustainably in ways you can experience – in your health, the air you breathe, the water you drink. They offer us a better quality of life, while also lowering global carbon emissions, reducing electricity and water bills, and creating new green jobs.”
In addition to creating 34% less CO2 emissions, using 25% less energy, saving 11% more water, and diverting over 80 million tons of waste from landfills, our LEED Gold certification means happier customers for YOU.
Now, you can tell your customers that the products you carry were manufactured in the most sustainable way possible. Eco-minded customers (and employees!) will be thrilled to learn that you’re actively protecting the environment, giving you a huge advantage over less environmentally conscious competitors.
Looking to the Future
Our hope is that this newly approved LEED Gold certification speaks to our customers as an act of continued commitment to a better, brighter future. Going into a new decade, we’re excited to be the only cleaning chemical manufacturer in the U.S. with an entirely LEED-certified facility. However, we’re equally excited to be celebrating forty years of successes in other fast-growing industries, such as manufacturing and technology. So, what’s in store for Midlab moving forward? Continued improvement in all areas.
As an example, we recently released our exclusive PLUS Label System. This universally understood answer to simplified training was “phase one” of our latest project. “Phase two” will be innovative AR technology, which we announced late last year as a way to further simplify the training process for cleaning crews everywhere.
“The PLUS Label System is a great example of how our team looks to the future when designing and developing new products and solutions. Our customers deserve the best and it’s our job to ensure they receive it time and time again.”
— Matt Schenk, President & CEO
Our Philosophy
To ensure our customers and team members continue to receive our best, we work under an Everything Clean philosophy that applies to more than just our cleaning products and training solutions. Everything Clean also applies to our community, and the shared environment that needs our protection now more than ever. It’s our way of saying, “we understand the importance of caring for our planet with sustainable business practices, and we’re dedicated to doing our part to create a healthier, safer world for all.”
